“We shape our buildings; thereafter, our buildings shape us.”
Actually I didn’t have any special plan for the latest weekend. Out of the blue I had sudden idea, “How if I go to see some old buildings?” Nice idea but needs certain effort to execute it since long weekend is usually associated with crowded atmosphere and terrible traffic jam.
I planned to explore some area which is called Kota Tua. Leaving home at 10.30 am, the traffic was very friendly and at 11.30 am I was already there and ready to explore the old building. The sun was actually not too hot. First, I visited Bank Mandiri museum. The place was still quite. I turned out to be the first visitor. A guide welcomed and took me around this area. It’s a quiet place and tranquil. Later, I went to Beos station, this was railway station Dutch inheritance. It’s very interesting place and crowded. After that I moved into Pintu Air street, toko Kompak (Kompak store) – a cultural heritage building in Pasar Baru, the Chicken church (gereja Ayam) which built 1913 and 1915 and Philatelic office.
I enjoyed very much, it’s really a fabulous moment. Although I spent almost the whole day there but I didn’t feel tired. It’s really a relaxing getaway.
